When to Visit Gibraltar, Month by Month
The Rock never really closes. But the light, the crowds, the levanter cloud and the whales all have a season.

Gibraltar has around 300 days of sunshine and no off-season in the usual sense. What changes is the crowd, the cloud and what is out in the water.
April to June: the best of it
Warm without being punishing, the hillsides still green, and the migrating raptors crossing the Strait in numbers. If you can choose freely, choose May.
July and August: hot, busy, brilliant for the water
Upper Rock temperatures in the high twenties and the terminal at its busiest. Start early. This is also bluefin tuna season and the best window for diving on the eastern side.
The levanter
An easterly wind that hangs a flat cloud over the summit — locals call it the levanter. It can sit there for days, mostly in summer, and it will steal your view from the Skywalk. It also drops the temperature pleasantly, so it is not all bad.
September to November: the quiet reward
Sea still warm, terminal quieter, dolphin sightings excellent. My own favourite time to be driving the route.
December to March
Mild, occasionally wet, and almost empty. The cave and tunnels are weatherproof, which makes a private tour a particularly good bet on a grey day.
