Europa Point
The Rock's southern tip: a Trinity House lighthouse, the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim mosque, a shrine, a cricket pitch and the clearest view of Morocco in Europe.
Two seas meet in front of you and you can see the line where they do when the tide runs. Behind you is the only lighthouse outside the United Kingdom that Trinity House still operates, and beside it a mosque given by King Fahd — a pairing that says more about Gibraltar than any guidebook paragraph.
It is also where the Rock feels least like a fortress and most like an island: flat, windy, open water on three sides.
Our tip
Sunset here is the best free thing in Gibraltar, and the reason a good many custom tours run late.
